Why stay in a hotel when you can stay IN history with us? The Gettysburg Academy Bed and Breakfast property witnessed and was used as a hospital for the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. Walk the same halls as wounded soldiers,, surgeons and nurses as well as Tillie Pierce, the young girl who attended school in this building when the battle broke out.

The Gettysburg Academy Bed and Breakfast is itself an historic destination, just three blocks from downtown Gettysburg’s Lincoln Square. Built in 1810, its front-facing wall still holds an artillery shell from the Battle of Gettysburg. Amenities include free on-site parking, high-speed Wifi and central AC and combine with spacious rooms, period furniture and beautifully manicured grounds to make your stay truly one for YOUR history books.

From the Academy’s downtown Gettysburg location, guests can walk to Gettysburg’s shops, restaurants and historically significant attractions and easily can walk to Steinwehr Avenue and its eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center is about a 30-minute walk or a five-minute drive.

Located in beautiful Adams County, Pa., Gettysburg is close to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Harrisburg and their airports. It is the site of the famous Civil War battle July 1-3, 1863. Gettysburg sees more than one million visitors each year.

We are a historic Gettysburg Bed and Breakfast, a wedding & event venue and the home of Jane’s Tea Room. Standing on the southeast corner of West High and South Washington Streets in historic downtown Gettysburg, Pa., the Gettysburg Academy building is a structure that has been called the “cradle” of higher learning in Adams County. Built in 1810 as the county’s first public school, it has served as the first home of the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary and the first home of Gettysburg College.
